Sunday, March 9, 2014, turned out to be a nice warm day for fishing with twenty-four boats showing up to compete in B.A.I.T. TN-I’s fourth tournament of the season. First place honors went to the team of Tim Smiley and Gary Pilkenton with five fish weighing 16.45 lbs. They netted $1,000.00 for their efforts. Second place went to Cruz and Orville Cope with 15.37 lbs. worth $500.00. Third place went to Eddie Ball and Keith Gray with 13.72 lbs. worth $300.00. Fourth place went to Sam Meade and Brian Pate with 13.44 lbs. worth $240.00.
Lunker largemouth was a tie between Tim Smiley and Gary Pilkenton and Troy and Denton Jones weighing, 3.98 lbs. and was worth $57.50 each. Smallmouth lunker went to Bill Dunn and Bill Jones weighing 3.80 lbs. and was worth $115.00.
B.A.I.T. and Bojangles along with Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to provide a little more money for payout over the season. We paid out $500.00 over our regular payout. Congratulations to all and thanks for fishing “America’s Best Team Trail”. Our next tournament will be March 23 on Norris launching from Pt. 19 Loyston Point. Remember, there will be $500.00 for the highest finishing team from TN-I at the Classic thanks to Ray Varner Ford! Pre-registration will be not be held due to other scheduling conflicts. B.A.I.T. is teamed up with Bass Pro Shops and will be hosting the weigh-ins for the Bass Pro Shops High School Tournament Series! Their first tournament will be March 22, 2014 on Douglas.
