Best numbers are still coming on a shaky head rigged finesse bait.  We found our better fish in 4 to 8 foot of water using Texas Rigged D-Bombs from Missile Baits and Tightline Mussel Crawler jigs tipped with Twin Tail grubs, soft plastics, and A-Rigs. Some fish are starting to cruse the shallows feeding for the spring.
Drifting or trolling with spider rigs for Crappie is picking up some nice slabs but you have to weed through the short fish. Just like Tims and Normandy, Woods continues in the same pattern it has been for the last few weeks. Temperatures have changed a little. Check out the monster bass caught Thursday by 79-year-old Cheryl William. The 10.25 pound largemouth is her personal best.

With that said here is my advice, its mid-August, Time to take a couple of weeks and check on the Dove field, put the deer plots in and scout/line up the fall Turkey season, and get the Duck Blinds brushed out fishing will be much better come Mid-September.

I had a great day last weekend at Woods winning a tournament with 17.65 pounds and the big fish 4.75. All but one of my fish came from 4-6 feet of water and all came on either a Tightline Jigs Swim jig with a Driftwood swim bait and a 1/2-ounce Green Tequila mussel crawler jig with Missile Baits twin turbo tail.
Bass, Catfish, Bluegill and Crappie continue to feet along the shorelines early morning. Some good fish can be found along the channel swings and around the humps. Drifting/trolling with spider rigs for Crappie is picking up some nice slabs but you have to weed through the short fish. Water temperatures range from 77 to 79 degrees.

Bass, Catfish, Bluegill and Crappie are feeding along the shorelines early morning.  Some good fish can be found along the channel swings. We found our better fish on grass lines outside and along spawning areas using soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and poppers.  A Carolina rig is always a good go to on Woods… Drifting/trolling with spider rigs for Crappie is picking up some nice slabs but you have to weed through the short fish. Water temperatures range from 71 to 76 degrees.

Bass are made a major move up and crappie are in spawn areas along the channels. We found our better fish on the outside of old grass line outside spawning flats using soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. A Carolina rig is aways a good go to on Woods. Drifting/trolling with spider rigs for Crappie is picking up some nice slabs. Water temperatures range from 59 to 64 degrees.

Bass are starting to move up and crappie are headed to spawn areas along the channels. We found our better fish on the outside of old grass line outside spawning flats using soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits.  A Carolina rig is always a good go to on Woods… Drifting/trolling with spider rigs for Crappie is picking up some nice slabs. As a reminder, 1 December the Wildlife Refuge starts, and a good portion of the lake is off limits and be careful of the Duck Hunters. Like Tims Ford the Tennessee BASS Nation and TWRA have replenished fish attractor sites with over 100 Christmas Tree and 8 wood pallet sites.  There will be more added after 1 February.

Water temperatures range from 72 to 73 degrees.

Crappie are strong on minnows and shellcrackers are moving up with several folks reporting good catches while fishing small grub/minnow type jigs. Water temperatures range from 70 to 71 degrees.

This past week Bass could be found in all stages; best results came on Jigs with primary colors green tequila and black/blue with trailers.
