We found some nice fish active early in the mornings this week using Pop-R’s, Chugbugs and Buzz baits. Some good fish also came on 3.5-inch swimbait along steep bluff banks. Along with a few fish in creeks with shad using jerk baits, 1/4oz Shaky Head with a finesse Trick worm and ½ ounce Tightline Green Tequila Jig this week work around brush piles in 8 to 15 feet of water. Morning where the best this week as we caught 30 to 40 fish a day. Don’t pass up the opportunity to flip laydowns, especially around deep water with a Texas rig. The current Lake level is 886.96 with a forecasted level slowly dropping to 886.94 over the weekend. Water temps are between 72 to 73 degrees on most of the lake. Please keep your lights on at night, even when sitting still “It’s the Law and it will save your life”. Always wear your life vest while on the water, watch for floating logs as the water drops and other boaters. Capt. Jake 615-613-2382 or msbassguide@comcast.net.

A few days of rain and cooler temperatures has made for some great fall fishing, just ask any of the Bassmaster College Bracket anglers last week. We found some nice fish active early in the mornings this week using Pop-R’s, Chugbugs and Buzz baits. Some good fish also came on 3.5-inch swimbait along steep bluff banks. They also found a few fish in creeks with shad using jerk baits, 1/4oz Shaky Head with a finesse Trick worm and ½ ounce Tightline Green Tequila Jig this week work around brush piles in 8 to 15 feet of water. Most of the anglers reported catching 35 to 50 fish a day.
Don’t pass up the opportunity to flip laydowns, especially around deep water with a Texas rig. You can watch all the action on www.bassmaster.com college fishing. They have some great videos of Realtime catches and what they caught them on. The current Lake level is 887.14 with a forecasted level slowly dropping to 887.03 over the weekend. Water temps are between 74 to 77 degrees on most of the lake. Please keep your lights on at night, even when sitting still “It’s the Law and it will save your life”. Good news is we have cooler days and nights in the forecast combined with shorter days, we should start seeing a change to more consistent fall fishing. We found some nice fish active early in the mornings this week using Pop-R’s. However, our best fish came on 3.5-inch swimbait along steep bluff banks. We also found a few fish in creeks with shad using 1/4oz Shaky Head with a finesse Trick worm and ½ ounce Tightline Green Tequila Jig this week work around brush piles in 8 to 15 feet of water.
Overall numbers remained down a little with 10 to 15 fish per ½ day and quality is still good this past week as well. Don’t pass up the opportunity to flip laydowns, especially around deep water with a Texas rig. The current Lake level is 886.64 with a forecasted level slowly dropping to 886.56 over the weekend. Water temps are between 74 to 77 degrees on most of the lake. Please keep your lights on at night, even when sitting still “It’s the Law and it will save your life.” Always wear your life vest while on the water, watch for floating logs as the water drops and other boaters. These Dog Days of Summer are almost gone. With cooler days and nights in the forecast, we should start seeing a change to more consistent fishing. After taking the past three weeks to re-carpet and install new electronics in my boat, we are finally back on the water. We found some nice fish active early in the mornings this week. Our best fish came on 3.5-inch swimbait along steep bluff banks.
We also found a few fish in creek that still had fresh water in flow using 1/4oz Shaky Head with a finesse Trick worm and ½ ounce Tightline Green Tequila Jig this week work around brush
piles in 8 to 15 feet of water. Overall numbers are down a little with 10 to 15 fish per ½ day and quality is still good this past week as well. Don’t pass up the opportunity to flip laydowns especially around deep water with a Texas rig.
The current Lake level is 887.18 with a forecasted level slowly dropping to 887.09 over the weekend. Water temps are between 82 to 86 degrees on most of the lake. For those that attended one of the TWRA Boater Safety Courses this summer, I talked to the Boating Safety Division, and they are behind about 60 days on sending out hard cards mainly due to retirements and staffing.
Please keep your lights on at night, even when sitting still “It’s the Law and it will save your life”. Always wear your life vest while on the water, watch for floating logs and other boaters. Capt. Jake 615-613-2382 or msbassguide@comcast.net

Fishing slowed down for the first couple days this week but picked back up nicely. Lake temperatures are between 67 and 69.3 degrees and the lake level climbed to 884.59 and projected to hit 884.86 over the weekend. Sped Craw, Crankbait, spinnerbaits and Jigs are a good place to start.
We continued to catch a few fish spread out on secondary points and around brush piles. Best lures have beenNed Rig, Tightline Mussel Crawler jigs tipped with Twin Tail grubs bite. Texas Rigged creature baits, produced as well. Crappie are on deep water docks, brush piles and treetops.
