Boone Lake Fishing Report: 20 March 2025
Forecast Contributor – Colton Chambers – C and C Outfitters
Spring has spring and fishing is good! Great news on Crappie, some decent catches this week in the 6-8 ‘ depth range on Bobby Garland-type lures and also on a fly and live minnow combo. The mid-lake and Holston side are producing around brush.
Bass fishing is good. Small crank baits and jerk baits on the inside of main channel points are working well, and even a few fish on spinnerbaits showing up.
Striper fishing isn’t bad the fish are just very scattered. Some are starting to chase bait in pockets, with some of the larger fish still in the 22-38’ range.

Forecast Contributor – Colton Chambers – C and C Outfitters
Water temps are 46-48 on the surface.
Stripers and Brown Trout are the word this week. Stripers are doing well from Rockingham Marina to the TVA Dam live shad on planer boards are working well.
Some huge Browns are biting, a C & C Outfitters client caught and RELEASED a 12 lb Brown Trout on Tuesday. Same methods as the Striper, but live Shiners will produce a few more bites.
Bass are doing well, Forward Facing Sonar is working with jig head minnows, but some good action on deep diving jerk baits and pig and jig combos on steeper Rocky backs seem best.
Crappie are still a bit slow, but some schools are getting higher in the water column, around the 18-22′ area.

Forecast Contributor – Colton Chambers – C and C Outfitters
Some early Spring weather has been great news! Still a lot of Bass being caught using Forward Facing Sonar, but there have been some solid fish biting a small pig & jig combo (Green Pumpkin) and a few bass starting to show up on deep diving jerk baits in 10-15 ‘ of water.
Crappie fishing isn’t great yet but showing signs of life on small hair flies tipped with minnows in 12-18 ‘.
Striper & Hybrids are showing up the best on live shad & shiners down lining from Davis Marina to Devault Bridge.

Forecast Contributor – Colton Chambers – C and C Outfitters
Bass fishing is the best word on Boone this week. Forward Facing Sonar is still the thing with drop baits and Alabama rigs. Jerk baits should start to be a player again after this cold front and some nice bass can be caught on small hair flies in 15-30 ‘ deep.
Stripers were showing signs of life in the Default Bridge to Davis Marina area. A few warm days next week and this could really pick up.
Crappie can still be found in standing trees in that same 25-35’ range on small tube baits. Best of luck and be safe on the water.

Forecast Contributor – Colton Chambers – C and C Outfitters
Bass fishing is really the best it has been all Winter. Alabama rigs and single Keitech type swimbaits are doing the work. There have been some really good catches anywhere from 10-20 ‘Most anglers are using Forward Facing Sonar to locate bait schools and throwing around them.
Striper fishing is picking up with water temps rising into the 47-48 range and it should only improve as we get closer to March.
Crappie fishing was good before this last round of rain and should get that way again. Bobby Garland type lures on 1/8 heads in 28-32 ‘. There was a verified 3 lb. -2oz Crappie taken by Colton Chambers.
Best of luck and be safe on the water.

Striper and Hybrid fishing is good with more and more schooling fish showing up in the evenings and mornings. Also, live shad are working well, we had an 11 lb. Hybrid caught this week. The Dam to Sportsman Marina area seems best, it’s the cleanest, warmest water right now.
