Chickamauga Lake Fishing Report

8-6-20

Water level:682. (Summer Pool 682.5)

Water Temp:85-88

The fishing is still good here on Chickamauga, we had a 9-6 beauty last week. The morning bite is best daylight till about 10:30 but if you get some cloud cover or rain, they seem to keep biting. We haven’t had much current early, most of its been later in the afternoon or at night. So, this plays into how good they eat. Its no secrete fish become more nocturnal during the summer time but like I said you can catch them the first 4 or 5 hours of the day. We’ve had some really good days where we’ve caught 35 fish and then there’s day, we get 12 to 15.

I will give you some of the patterns I’m fishing to catch my fish. But of course, there’s more patterns that may work.

My main pattern has been fishing the grass. I have caught most of my fish this summer fishing ZOOMs Zlinky, this bait has caught several fish over 7lbs the last couple months and I’m still catching them with it. The best colors have been Green Pumpkin, Motoroil/Chartreuse and Junebug. I’m fishing the bait wacky style on a Lews spinning reel with 15 to 20 lb Seaguar braid and a 12lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon leader. You have to fish this bait slow. I have a lot of guys fishing it to fast and after they get the rhythm, they start catching them. I’ve also have had guys fish it perfectly from the start and they catch them all morning. I’m telling you the ZOOM Zlinky is a fish catching lure.

Ledge fishing is still producing fish. Jigs, big worms and swim baits seems to be what they will react on. A lot of the schools are really hard to get fired up. But if you do you can get them going pretty well. Also, a drop shot will catch them to. Fishing a ½ Pro Tungsten drop shot weight and a ZOOM Z3 Drop shot worm and an Z drop in morning dawn and green pumpkin colors work.

Also fishing around docks, a jig or ZOOM Ole Monster worm in Blue Fleck, June bug and green pumpkin. Fish it on 17lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon and a 3/8 to ½ ounce Pro Tungsten weight.

I still have days available in August and September.

Chickamauga Lake Fishing Report

6-21-20

Water level:682. (Summer Pool 682.5)

Water Temp:78-81

The past week I have been catching my bass mainly in the 1 to 6-foot depths. I have been fishing main lake points, docks and the back of some creeks. I feel the fish are really scattered right now and I have done best by just keep moving and fishing. It seems like if I do this, I will end up with 15 to 25 fish days.

My main bait has been ZOOM’s Zlinky, this is a stick bait and I’ve been fishing it wacky rigged with on a Lew’s spinning rod. I prefer the braid to fluorocarbon and I always use Seaguars line.

A couple other baits that has worked is a white swim jig with a white ZOOM Z craw as a trailer.  Then a ZOOM Ole Monster worm on a Pro Tungsten 3/8 or ½ ounce worm weight. It seems like they are reacting better to the ½ on most days, the faster fall seems to be getting more bites.

Everyone is asking about the ledge bite! I have found a few schools of fish but it seems like everyone else has found them also. So, fishing for these fish have been more hit or miss. But when I do catch them a ¾ ounce football jig rigged with a ZOOM twin tail has worked and also the Ole Monster with a ½ Pro Tungsten weight.

Its going to be warming up more this week and this could push more fish out on the ledges. Only thing is we have the FLW tournament going on this week so I’m sure they will get hammered on.

I still have days available in July and August.

June will be here soon and the ledge bite will be happening! So’ if you like to do a trip feel free to call, text or email me!

Be safe on the water and good fishing!
