The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation (TWRF) has awarded a partnership agreement to the I Wanna Fish Too (IWFT) youth program, which seeks to introduce East Tennessee’s less fortunate youth to the sport of fishing. IWFT supplies new fishing gear to children 3-15 and junior fishing licenses to children ages 13-15. The TWRF has made the program a part of their Tennessee Kids in the Outdoors program and has set up a restricted account for IWFT funds.
On Saturday, April 7, 2012 an event will be held at C&C Outdoors 2940 Topside Rd Ste 1, Louisville, Tn from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m for the children to obtain their junior fishing license and fishing equipment. The following weekend is the 1st Annual IWFT Youth Tournament scheduled for Saturday, April 14 at Louisville Point Park in Blount County from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the tournament will be held on Sunday, April 15 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Pro-Angler Greg Sims of China Grove, NC is planning to attend the tournament as a proud supporter. Mr. Sims is currently an active member of B.A.S.S. and FLW Outdoors as well as local fishing trails such as the Christian Anglers Fellowship Trail, the Lincoln County Prison Ministries Trail, Carolina Anglers Tournament Trail, and most of all local charity tournament events. He also supports the B.A.S.S. Federation Youth tournaments as a boat captain during their tournaments.
The IWFT youth program is in strong need of community support, dedicated volunteers, and sponsors. Supporters of the program will also be benefitting TWRA’s Wildlife Conservation Programs, Stocking Projects, Streamside Restoration Projects and much more. 2012/13 hunting and fishing licenses are now on sale at TWRA license agents. Those who may buy a Senior Citizen’s License (65 or older) must wait until their birthday to purchase it. If you’re birthday is several months into the new license year, you might want to go ahead and purchase one more regular license. You’re the best judge of that.

Morris Ferry Boat Dock was once a great place to fish, then it disappeared and the area once so famous on Woods Reservoir fell into disrepair. However, with the help of TWRA personnel, Arnold Engineering Air Force Base, and local public service employees in Franklin County, this area has had one fantastic facelift. If you’re looking for a good fishing lake with excellent bank access, Morris Ferry Recreation Area and Woods Reservoir need to be on you short list of choices. Also, get a look at one excellent way to build a fish attractor.
