Fishing Report:  Was able to float the Watauga yesterday. We had a good day with a good number of both browns and rainbows. With all the rain we have had Wilber dam is running water all the time for the last week or two. So the best way to fish the Watauga is to float right now. The upper end is best if the creeks and rivers flowing in are high and off color. That is where we floated yesterday.
Had two clients Stewart and Brad out both caught trout Brad got a nice bow. Give us a call we are offering a winter float special only through this sight until the last day of Feb. The weather has been warm and the floating a lot of fun give us a call we look forward to taking you fishing. 23 Jan 2012

   Nice bow from the weekend,

We are booking and doing trips right now. Have you caught your first trout of the new year yet?
The TVA has cut the water off on the Watauga making for some great fishing the last couple days. With the warmer weather there were good hatches of Blue Wing Olives and some Blue Quills hatching. Nymph fishing was good with egg patterns and small nymphs being the best. Did get out to do some small stream fishing too. It is great but the small streams may slow down with the cold weather on the way. Watauga should stay good as the water temps stay the same as it is a tail water. See the pics below of some wild small stream trout caught this week. 01 January 2012

Got out on the Watauga for a float trip yesterday 12/11. The water was still a little high but the fishing was over all good, not many big fish but we had some numbers with some real colorful browns and bows. We are still doing trips all winter. The TVA is running water off and on so be sure to check release schedules if you plan to get out on your own. The whole river is fishing pretty good right now when the water is not running. The better fishing as it gets colder will be the upper river where the water will be warmer below the dam. The summer crowds are gone and the fishing is good so give us a call and get out and catch some trout. 12 December 2011 pic below from yesterdays catch.  Jason Reep

Watauga has been good with catching good #s the last few days. Mostly nymph fishing with a few BWO’s hatching. We are still fishing and guiding through the winter. If you want to head up this way and are looking for a trip give us a call. The water has been releasing early though the week so have needed to get out early to float. We were on the water at 7am and off around three today with the water coming up but had a great day. 15 November 2011  Check out this nice rainbow and give Jason a call if you want to try to tackle one of these:

Still a few blue wings hatching in the afternoons and a few caddis flies. Best fishing has been with midges and other small nymphs. Water is still pretty low and clear. We have had some rain though. Fishing is good, on windy days there is a lot of leafs in the river so you will have to work around those. Get out and catch some trout this is a great time of year not to hot not to cold, comfortable to be out. If we can get you booked for a fishing trip let us know. Looks to be pretty busy up to about Thanksgiving. 24 Oct 2011

Watauga is fishing pretty good right now the water is real low and clear and the trout are more line shy than usual. We are nymph fishing a lot in the mornings and getting some BWO’s hatching in the afternoons. Been catching trout every day just have to make a little longer cast and be aware the fish are spooky in the low clear water. 04 Oct. 2011

The Watauga has been good for the last week. The water is again low and clear calling for longer softer cast and 6x tippet. Have had some good afternoon blue wing olive hatches. And have been fishing nymphs deep with light tippets. Have caught several nice trout this week. If you plan to fish may have to use some low water tactics. Ryan got a big brown this week. This is a great trout and required some skill to land on 6x tippet. 20 Sept 2011
