Percy Priest Fishing Report by TWRA

Fishing Report Percy Priest Lake Tennessee:      02 Aug 2013

The water temperature on Percy Priest is between 80 and 83 at the surface and we are in August!

The fishing continues to be good for crappie whether trolling or casting.

The shad/minnows are really showing up a lot on the lake surface and if you watch enough you will see them get busted by something. Should be a good rest of the summer and into fall surface hit. If you troll, take an extra rod in case you see fish come up. Those fish might be white bass, yellow bass, hybrids, largemouth, smallmouth, or even bluegill. Maybe even catfish. Lot of activity at time son Priest during the daylight hours. With the air temperature rising some and the water temperature still cool for this time of year, beware the fog as was present this a.m. on Priest and go slowly.

Percy Priest: Crappie have moved out of spawning areas and can be fround around deeper structure. Some anglers have already began trolling for the, but that fishing should only improve through the summer.

Bluegill fishing is good. Fish shallow areas, shallow points, or coves with crickets or tiny plastic baits and jigs.

Hybrids and stripers are being caught extremly early in the a.m. until a tad after sunset, according a few anglers.
